Check out our 10 summer gardening tips to keep your garden looking great!

  1. Mowing and watering your lawn regularly is obvious but probably the most important summer task.
  2. Check on your plants every day. If the soil is dry, water them (especially recently planted trees and shrubs).
  3. Weeds will show up more as the weather gets warmer. It’s important that you keep on top of them. Weed control fabric is a popular choice to reduce weed growth. It can be used under gravel beds, paths and patios.
  4. Put your summer hanging baskets out, trimming off any excess to encourage new growth.
  5. Open your greenhouse doors when it’s hot and check the plants in here daily. If you notice the soil is dry, ensure you water them.
  6. Prune your evergreen hedges.
  7. Don’t let your greenhouse overheat. Using blinds or applying shade paint will help.
  8. Purchase pest control to prevent slugs from attacking young plants.
  9. Keep your bird bath topped up.
  10. Give your garden furniture and patio area a good clean so it’s ready to be enjoyed. Add in a garden centrepiece or feature to add style to your garden. Natural rainbow sandstone spheres are an excellent option.
